POZ Bled Fest Preview: Our Must-See Bands And Artists
Bled Fest will be taking place this weekend on Howell, Michigan and PropertyOfZack is gearing up for a weekend of fun, and we hope many of you are too. Just in case you’re not too in tune to the festival already and can make it out, we thought it’d be a great idea to put together a list of POZ’s Must See Bands And Artists that will be gracing the stage this weekend at Bled. Reblog and let us know who we need to see while we’re in Howell this weekend as well!
Joie de Vivre
You probably can’t pronounce it (the name’s fancy and French for “joy of living,”) but when the Midwestern rockers’ horns burst and bloom to life, you’ll sure as hell feel it. Joie de Vivre perfected a brand of cathartic emo (it doesn’t so much as borrow from the Kinsella songbook as rewrite its favorite parts) that’s musically exuberant and lyrically world-weary and sobering. We’re All Better Than This was easily one of 2012’s finest moments, and Joie’s Bled Fest set will run the emotional gamut.
The World is a Beautiful Place
Yes, Whenever, If Ever leaked, and that sucks. But the record itself — a stunning, sweeping, sprawling masterpiece of post rock-injected emo — does anything but. The instrumentally lush eight-piece should boast what’s going to go down as the most atmospheric set of Bled Fest, and hopefully the unlucky early release of the album means that we’ll get to space out to some new jams at the festival.
Into It. Over It.
Alone or with any one of his laundry list of projects, Evan Weiss sets are always worth the price of admission, and though some fans prefer the man-and-his-guitar aesthetic his solo shows provide, Into It. Over It full-band sets flesh out the band’s songs with more depth and dimension than any one acoustic guitar can provide. Weiss assumes the role of frontman comfortably with his backing band, and his humorous anecdotes punctuate his sets with humor and poise.
Koji
The singer-songwriter’s sparse Crooked in My Mind is a frontrunner for one of the best acoustic-heavy albums of the year, thanks to Koji’s softly sung confessionals and quiet optimism. The immensely genuine, wickedly talented singer churns out uplifting sets routinely, and his Bled Fest performance will no doubt follow that curve. Plus, he’ll get the chance to flaunt some new songs, which, if you didn’t catch my drift earlier, are pretty fucking phenomenal.
EXCUSE ME, this is MY drawing. thanks so much for reposting it AND editing out my signature. wow.
